Donate stocks, mutual funds, RRSPs, RRIFs, or TFSAs for maximum impact and tax savings.
Gifts of appreciated financial assets are one of the most tax-smart ways to support Alberta Ballet. You can reduce capital gains taxes, unlock more of your investment’s value, and leave a meaningful legacy.
What You Can Give:
Giving to the Community Development Programming can be done using any of the methods outlined on our website: whether through publicly traded securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs), bequests through RRSPs, RRIFs, TFSAs, crypto-currency, or cash. Real estate donations or gifts-in-kind of other tangible assets can be made in support of community development programming, but those assets will need to be sold or leveraged first before the money becomes available.
Our community programs consists of our amazing Ballet X Powwow classes, our provincial dance classes for newcomers and marginalized youth, and our Welcoming Newcomers ticket program. New to 2025 is our Caregivers Intermission program, where you can support tickets for people working in the helping professions to help offset issues of vicarious trauma, PTSD, and burnout.
How You Can Give:
-
Our Ballet x Powwow program, in partnership with the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta, offers a unique cultural and social exploration through dance. In these six-week sessions, a ballet instructor and a Powwow dancer co-teach, weaving together both disciplines to create a meaningful, shared experience for Indigenous youth. [donate here]

Alberta Ballet Provincial Classes provide free, accessible dance experiences for youth ages 3-16, tailored to reach underserved communities. In partnerships with frontline organizations, we work together to ensure that these programs remove as many barriers as possible.
Currently, provincial programming takes place in Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Fort McKay, and Chateh. In addition, we also deliver programming at the Africa Centre in Edmonton as well as the Mustard Seed’s Ogden Hub:29, Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association, and our own dedicated studio located within the Centre for Newcomers in Calgary.
-
Our Caregivers Intermission program provides free tickets to people working in the helping professions throughout Alberta (nurses, social workers, hospice volunteers).
Research shows that participation in the arts can significantly reduce stress, combat burnout, and improve overall mental well-being for individuals in caregiving roles. By offering an evening of beauty, reflection, and renewal, Caregivers Intermission honors those who care for others and helps restore the emotional resilience they give so freely in their work [^].

Through our Welcoming Newcomers Program, we reach 1,000 immigrants and new Canadians each year with tickets to Alberta Ballet performances. We work in collaboration with immigrant-serving agencies, ensuring that the program benefits from the valuable insight and expertise of those who are most focused on supporting newcomer communities. With sponsor support, and particulary from our lead sponsor Enbridge, the Welcoming Newcomer program is on track to reach 5,000 newcomers in the coming year, a huge milestone that contributes to a deeper sense of belonging, cultural connection, and confidence within newcomer communities.
